Back To Basics
April 19, 2009I recently went through some of my old college papers/notes and found out that I have now become a complete idiot regarding mathematics. I was reading on old paper I wrote for one of my math classes and realized that I no longer have a clue on what I was talking about back then. I had to read it at least three times to figure out the math logic of it. And so, I was desperately inclined to grab some of my old homework and test papers to see if I can still function. I will seriously try to read some thing math related everynight just so I can ignite the fire I have with the subject again. After all, I consider myself a geek, albeit a sexy one!
The theorems I have memorized and the proofs for them are long forgotten. I used to know the definition of continuity, both in calculus and topology, but am now at a loss on how to start. Has it been than long? Geez!!! I feel so dumb! I have a couple of bookshelf – one of which is full of math books of some sort. I have to admit that they are simply gathering dust waiting to be opened by an eager learner like myself. But I have long sinced immersed myself in other things other than numbers and greek letters that I have forgotten how much I loved mathematics. I’m such a douche!
And so, I was looking for a video I found on Youtube a while back when I was taking Abstract Algebra (this class was a f**king nightmare) about simple groups. I was looking for the Klein Four Group video and I ran into “Mathmaticious”… Written and sang by the same guy – i thought the piece was brilliant and hilarious. The part where he started saying all the numbers of pi was sooo ridiculously funny. I couldn’t stop laughing. Note: I am a geek and I am sure that some of you may think this video below is very stupid. It is very entertaining nonetheless.
