It’s Really Here! No More Jokes!!!
March 9, 2010The Pentax 645D is here! I guess hell has frozen over! It’s been in the works since 2005 – even before the K10D came out. But it’s here now and it’s coming to Japan only (for now) in May of this year. I guess this is further proof that there won’t be any full-frame cameras from Pentax coming anytime soon. They have chosen to bypass the full-frame “gig” and go all the way to the Pro level. But at $10,000 (although the cheapest of any medium format SLRs) seems a little too far-fetched for myself at the moment. I would have to reinvest in 645 lenses as well. I have no money… but I really want this thing! More info here.

There’s been a lot of buzz for the past couple of weeks about a new Pentax body named “K7″ – at least that’s what everyone thinks the name will be. It won’t be an upgrade to a K20D, but rather a new line of semi-pro DSLRs from Pentax. It is said to be much more advanced than a K20D and is a lot more compact. This is quite good news for all of us with heavy lenses.
