The Pentax 645D is here! I guess hell has frozen over! It’s been in the works since 2005 – even before the K10D came out. But it’s here now and it’s coming to Japan only (for now) in May of this year.  I guess this is further proof that there won’t be any full-frame cameras from Pentax coming anytime soon.  They have chosen to bypass the full-frame “gig” and go all the way to the Pro level.  But at $10,000 (although the cheapest of any medium format SLRs) seems a little too far-fetched for myself at the moment.  I would have to reinvest in 645 lenses as well.  I have no money… but I really want this thing!  More info here.

Here’s another look at the filming capabilities of the Pentax K7.  I’m really lusting after this camera.  I just can’t freaking afford it right now!!!

Another K7 Test

February 1, 2010

I am oh sooooo tempted to get this camera already.  I’ve been looking at a lot of reviews for this flagship during some downtime at work.  I am so ready to pull the trigger now!

A Sad Night It Has Been!!!

September 16, 2009

I’ve been too busy…  we finally bought a house but we’re still unpacking. I haven’t really touched my camera lately.  Today, I took it with me to my son’s soccer game. After a few shots, I sat it down the bench where it fell to the ground and broke my SDM 50-135 lens.  My heart sank!!! I have to send it in to Pentax and see if they can repair it.

On a positive note, if I don’t end up buying a brand new lens, I should have enough money to buy the K-7.  I’m really excited about this one especially for its video capabilities.

Pentax K7

April 27, 2009

pentaxk7There’s been a lot of buzz for the past couple of weeks about a new Pentax body named “K7″ – at least that’s what everyone thinks the name will be.  It won’t be an upgrade to a K20D, but rather a new line of semi-pro DSLRs from Pentax.  It is said to be much more advanced than a K20D and is a lot more compact.  This is quite good news for all of us with heavy lenses.

I was really planning on buying the K20D soon but am now holding out until this summer to see the K7.  This whole thing just tickles my fannies!  Everyone thought Pentax was doomed but I found it hard to believe since they really had some very good glasses.  I doubt anyone can compete with the quality the Pentax Limited lenses produces – yes, not even from the CaNikon crowd.  There’s just no beating Pentax when it comes to Prime glasses.  And plus, I have always been told that it’s not the camera that makes the picture but the one holding the camera (as evident in my photographs!)

Good on you Pentax!  I’m proud to call myself a Pentaxian!
